Pompei Gladio

999 silver plated bronze Pompei gladio hand-burnished

Material: 999 silver plated bronze

Origin: Pompei Gladio with blade of 6 mm with C45 steel. The sword called Pompeii (for the quantity of finds that took place in Pompeii), it is assumed to have been a weapon that joined the sword of the type called Mainz, at the beginning of the 1st century A.D. (it will remain until the middle of the II century A.D.). Compared to Hispaniensis / Mainz it highlights parallel cuts and a triangular tip; the blade is shorter (from 42 to 50 cm). It could therefore be defined as the first gladius that assumes “common” characteristics and therefore differs from previous ones. The gladius obviously changed during the time but remains until the middle of the II century.
